In 1979, Yeomans Wood and Timber was created to provide service to forest landowners by buying timber at competitive prices, while never sacrificing the quality of the harvesting operation, and to produce forest products efficiently and safely. In the early years, Yeomans Wood and Timber produced around 250, 000 tons of wood anually. That wood was produced primarily within 50-60 miles of Swainsboro, Ga. with two field men. In the mid-eighties, the company was up to around 400, 000 tons per year with three wood buyers covering 8 to 10 counties. By 1990, our operation was producing over 700, 000 tons of wood annually to wood fiber and building products facilities. Since then, Yeomans has grown to produce over 1, 250, 000 tons each year employing, nine wood buyers that cover all of middle and southeast Georgia and coastal South Carolina. We have also implemented a reforestaion group, so that we may offer our clients a complete turn-key job. Today, our company is characterized as a producer of pine and hardwood timber to various markets across the southeast, a management firm for timberland and a purchaser of land and timber.
