All of our plants are Forest Stewardship Council???EUR??? (FSC?,?(R)) Certified. We are proud to be certified by this international organization which brings people together to find solutions that promote responsible stewardship of the world???,??,,?s forests.

Color Connection in our pressroom to reduce makeready waste by over 75%. We are the only printer in New England to have Color Connection software on all presses. This reduces overall waste by 20%.

We run closed loop plate chemistry replenishment/removal systems developed in collaboration with Eastman Kodak Co.

We run vegetable based inks around the clock. Not just on special request.

Water, air, aluminum printing plates and inks are all recycled.

Universal works closely with the Department of Environmental Protection, the Occupation Health and Safety Association and other state and local agencies to ensure that while we are producing our goods and services for our customers, we are also providing a safe, clean and environmentally responsible work place.

Universal is qualified as a Zero Discharge facility with the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority. This means we are recognized as a facility that does not pollute the environment and protects our water ways/aquifers. We are one of the only print facilities in New England under this classification.

We have outfitted all plants with T5 lighting ???,??EUR? all light bulbs have been replaced with these "eco-friendly" bulbs and give off 20% more light using less energy. We have been recognized by the State of Massachusetts and are receiving tax rebates through 2011 because of this investment.
