The Yard Ramp Guy represents the culmination of over 30 years of business experience and personal growth.
With one exception, Jeff Mann has created every job he ever worked. His career is a testament to creativity, opportunism, persistence and networking.
Mann has worked directly in the following industries: Intercollegiate Athletics, Ad Specialties & Premiums, Theater, Heating & Cooling, Desktop Publishing/Printing and Material Handling. His clientele span across virtually every type of business and industry from government to consumer, from Fortune 100 to sole proprietors.
While serving as sales manager for a material handling dealership, Mann noticed a consistent flow of inquiries for the rental and/or purchase of new and used yard ramps. His sales reps would reply "No" to these inquiries and send them (and their wallets) on their way. Mann thought it might make sense and a great deal of profit to begin saying "Yes!"
He developed a test program for the rental of new and used yard ramps along with the brokering of used ramp sales between sellers and buyers. The program proved to be so successful that a couple of years later, Mann forged out on his own.
Incorporated in January 2010, The Yard Ramp Guy sells, rents and buys new and used yard ramps coast-to-coast. Mann builds his business each day with 21st century virtual office technologies. Using three web sites, a computer, a phone and the outsourcing of logistics, marketing, telecommunications and manufacturing (U.S. Services and Manufacturing ONLY), he and his company are a model for the modern entrepreneur. Mann follows his vision for running his business with very old-school values:
1. Communicate!
In working with The Yard Ramp Guy, you will enjoy a respectful and continuous flow of communication. During your purchasing process, expect follow ups. While your sale or rental is in process, expect updates and calls between you and the logistics coordinator. Later, you should expect a sincere thank you.
2. Focus!
Time and again Mann is asked "why only yard ramps?" The answer is as simple as this: Fulfill the niche. There is an unfulfilled niche for economical yard ramps and rental yard ramps. Many of these transactions require a great deal of time, attention-to-detail and creativity. Expect a commitment from Mann that will noticeably differ from the others who have provided with you quotations.
3. Be Honest!
There are things we cannot control. Yet many sales representatives in any line of work persist in over-promising and under-delivering. Mann is very clear on this topic. He is willing to lose the sale before knowingly and deceptively over-promising. Expect to hear what you don't want to hear from Mann if that is the truth. The best example is ability to deliver on time. If the factory is typically 7-10 days for production, but is running 10-15 days, you will hear 10-15 days UP FRONT.
4. Treat Others the Way You Wish to be Treated!
Mann treats his prospects like clients and his clients like friends or family. His vendors are his co-workers. He collaborates with his co-workers, counts upon their expertise and listens to their recommendations. You should expect your entire experience with The Yard Ramp Guy to be fair and respectful. Mann's goal is to earn your business and later earn your willingness to refer The Yard Ramp Guy to others.
With a vision and plan in motion, Jeff Mann has come to be known as The Yard Ramp Guy - and he approaches his work with great passion.
