History Formerly the home of Detroit-based pharmaceutical firm Parke Davis & Co., the buildings currently occupied by Stroh River Place date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Stroh family, owners of The Stroh Companies, Inc., purchased the historically designated site in 1979.
Determined to preserve the grace and architecture of the site's original construction, members of the Stroh family, then led by Peter Stroh, carefully oversaw the restoration of 15 historic buildings. In the words of John W. Stroh III, current Chairman and CEO of the Stroh Companies, "Our commitment to Detroit's history and its spectacular riverfront is what prompted us to maintain the architecture of this landmark development."
Today, the flagship of the River Place campus is 300 River Place, a 500,000 square foot, multi-tenant general office and retail building. Designed by James Stewart Polshek & Partners, 300 River Place and its complimentary redevelopment properties, which include a secure parking structure, 301 residences, and the 106-room Roberts Riverwalk Hotel & Residence, are reminiscent of the firm's work at the famed Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston.
The Flagship Building 300 River Place, our flagship building, is a class A facility for office and retail tenants. The former headquarters of the Stroh Brewery Company, this historically acclaimed building offers an impressive yet comfortably tasteful ambiance for the many businesses that have decided to call it home. Tenants of 300 River Place enjoy a state-of-the-art technical infrastructure designed to meet all their requirements for fiber optics, heavy power, video conferencing, and other cutting edge technologies. The building also features eight passenger elevators, two dedicated freight elevators, and two loading docks. All this in addition to the plentiful amenities, friendly service, clean surroundings, well-maintained grounds, and 24-hour security.
