The Sapphire Group Corporation (SG), is building to become one of the most comprehensive AIDS service organizations in the southern United States. As with the majority of community based AIDS service organizations across the nation, The Sapphire Group has a grassroots beginning with services that focus primarily on African American gay men as these are the individuals most affected by HIV/AIDS. The Sapphire Group is a leader in the provision of culturally relevant services in the Mid-South region and the staff is highly reflective of the population it serves with 67% of the 34-member staff being African American and 41% being persons living with HIV/AIDS. In addition, one of the African American staff members is a case manager who works with newly diagnosed individuals.
