TEOJAMA COMERCIAL S.A., established in 1963, at Quito, became retailer of the Japanese brand of passenger vehicles ?DAIHATSU? from Osaka-Japan, later and in 1969 it became retailer for the Quito, highland provinces and Oriente regions of Ecuador, of the ?HINO? brand of commercial vehicles, also a Japanese corporation, was established in Tokyo.
As the years went by, TEOJAMA became known by selling HINO dumps, which became important cornerstones in the development of Ecuador main highway system, fueled by the revenues coming from the newly discovered oil fields of the Oriental region.
TEOJAMA continues with the consolidation of its operations by settling sales into the commercial vehicles segment of the economy, and eventually getting into the public transportation business by providing inter-provincial buses, sub-segments controlled by American and European brands.
After the lost decade of the 1980´s, times where the Ecuadorian economy suffered due to political instability and economic upheaval, the 1990´s arrived, and so a new recovery of Ecuador was settled, and TEOJAMA began to grow once again. In 1991, the company started an aggressive expansion program by investing in stock and working capital, and then in 1992 it opened its first major branch, other than Quito, at the southern city of Cuenca, later on it moved operations to the seaport of Guayaquil (1994), Ecuador's largest city. Things got difficult as the economic and banking crisis exploded in 1999 -2000, which ended with the abolition of the national currency and the establishment of the US Dollar, as the main and only currency of the country. As such, TEOJAMA persevered, and established a new branch at Manta (2002) and later on Ambato (2009).
TEOJAMA also maintains a distribution center for its vehicles in the northern part of Quito, as well as another one in the southern part of Guayaquil. TEOJAMA also boosts five (5) service centers through it affiliated company ?SERVITALLERES S.A.? at the same locations where TEOJAMA resides.
In addition and since, TEOJAMA maintains and operates a distribution and logistical center for spare parts, located at Miami-Florida (TEOJAMA AMERICA GROUP INC.)
All vehicles sold by TEOJAMA, can be financed through CrediTeojama ®, which is TEOJAMA financial arm, terms are up to 36 months at competitive rates.
TEOJAMA, financial strength, makes the company a top contender in Ecuador arena consistently; the company is ranked among the top 100 corporations of the country measured by assets, net worth and revenues. TEOJAMA and its affiliated companies are proud to represent without interruption, the HINO and DAIHATSU brands, both part of the TOYOTA Group of companies, also being the oldest and most reputable representative for both brands in Latin America.
TEOJAMA has sold over 6,700 units of vehicles during the last three (3) years, and it expects to consolidate its operations by selling over 12,000 units during the next five (5) years. TEOJAMA has also entered into the Quito Stock Exchange, with much success with the placing of debentures, with a credit rating of ?AA? by ?Fitch Ratings?.
