Tactical Electronics was founded in June of 1999 in a residential garage. Through relationships created during previous employment, TE was made aware of operator level needs for specialized equipment development. This need for the design and development of new and pioneering gear, was and still is the driving force behind TE?s existence.

While fostering relationships with various DoD and DoJ SMU?s, TE started providing training and was able to successfully manufacture several well received equipment items, many of which are still in service today. The company was formed and operated profitably in its early years without any outside private investment or commercial lending. As assets were grown, the company moved into its first leased building and cautiously added employees to the organization. In 2003 they numbered only six. Marketing efforts, albeit insignificant, and a commitment to high quality manufacturing led to the award of a sizeable ($1.69MM) fleet-fill equipment contract with the United States Navy Training and Evaluation unit TWO (TEUTWO) located at Ft. Story, Va. Through this capitalization Tactical Electronics experienced its first opportunity for considerable growth. A building was purchased in Broken Arrow, OK and a small local machining company was acquired.

In the following years, Tactical Electronics continued responding to the ever changing needs of the handful of units that were served. Primarily through word of mouth the list of client governments and the employee roster grew, leading to the purchase of a building in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where they were able to localize support to Navy SMU?s. By 2009 the company had grown to 32 dedicated employees. In spring of 2010 the company had realized a need for significant organizational and cultural restructuring, and a verticalization plan was developed and implemented. Currently, much of the implementation process of is ongoing, which is commensurate with our desire to grow into an even greater resource for our military and law enforcement clients.
