Since its birth on October 1, 1962, almost 50 years ago, Mee Memorial Hospital has been a vital partner in the health and well-being for the residents of Southern Monterey County, striving to improve the quality of life both in and beyond hospital walls. As a non-profit, unaffiliated hospital, Mee Memorial Hospital is able to reinvest in talent and technology to ensure patients receive quality and very personal care.
Over its half century, Mee Memorial Hospital has evolved to meet the growing and changing needs of the community. In 1952, there were about 10,000 residents in South County, now there are nearly 50,000. Technology has changed and so have we, with our physicians and other healthcare professionals representing more than 14 specialties and sub-specialties. The Mee Memorial Hospital family includes more than 90 physicians, family nurse practitioners, physician assistants and more than 500 employees and 75 volunteers in our active Service league and Foundation.
In the past 15 years, a ânewâ Mee has been built adjacent to the old hospital and the second floor of that facility, which was a shell for a few years, has been completed. In addition to a myriad of hospital services, Mee Memorial has a network of five clinics to serve its clientele, four in King City and one in Greenfield.
The hospital now has 119 licensed beds and is continually working to provide the best inpatient, outpatient and emergency services care for the people of South Monterey County. As this web site's history page shows, it was the community itself that gave birth to Mee Memorial Hospital. The loyal support the hospital has received during its history, along with the dedication of the staff and board of directors, are, in large measure, responsible for the hospital's longevity.
The hospital very much appreciates and respects that support and strives to be good stewards of the community's trust. But as the community and this hospital move forward, there is no greater defense of good health than personal responsibility. Eat well, exercise, learn what it takes to stay healthy, find a healthy balance between work and home life and wash your hands.
