How We Began

We were founded in 2002 with an initial focus on innovative and reliable power conversion and energy-storage equipment for the off-grid market. The renewable power market was in its infancy and we were inspired with the potential of developing a product that could make a real impact in the world around us. Since then, we have secured a leadership role in this industry.

Silent Power developed and patented a technology that allows a high-frequency micro-transformer to manage large surge currents that often occur when an electric motor load is started. This technology allowed us to create an all-in-one package featuring performance, efficiency, and packaging over existing power-conversion technologies. This proprietary technology is at the heart of every Silent Power product that addresses numerous markets today.

How We Are Moving Forward

Silent Power has been working diligently toward solving the larger societal issue of matching renewable energy to when it's needed. Our products were created to address the issues of uneven grid demand, renewable energy intermittency, the need for backup, and reducing demand charges, among many others. Why Timing Matters

Solar energy production peaks around noon and the majority of wind is produced at night. Nationally, the highest electrical demand typically occurs between 4 and 7pm for most utilities. As renewable energy production becomes a larger portion of total electric power production, this "misalignment" will continue to grow, requiring the need for viable energy storage solutions. Energy storage can address this issue by stockpiling excess energy, then dispatching the energy during high-demand periods. This reduces the need for utilities to build additional facilities for power generation, transmission, and distribution to meet peak demand.
