Our Fabled Past...After growing up in Maysville, Kentucky and working with their father, the late Eugene Lundergan; and traveling from state fair and county carnivals selling freshly squeezed "lemon shake ups" in 1970, three brothers, Jerry, Mike and Tom Lundergan decided that they would combine their passion and love of food, and develop a catering business. Utilizing local contacts in the equine industry, the trio soon landed as the caterer of choice for the most prestigious farms in the bluegrass. As Lexington began to blossom with industry, Valvoline Oil set up shop and needed a hospitality provider for visiting executives. Lundy's was born on the corporate scene! Officials were so impressed with the presentation and "inventiveness" that the three brothers were taken to Indianapolis, to the infamous Brickyard as the exclusive caterer to Valvoline during the Indianapolis 500. Soon the brothers realized that mobility was key, and the first mobile kitchen was designed and constructed, setting today's standard in off premise catering equipment. After a few more years, a sports catering and concession division of Lundy's Catering was realized. Focusing on PGA golf, ATP tennis and Indy racing, then the future called.. NASCAR; not only did the client list grow but so did the companies vast inventory of all of the elements necessary to produce an event. Rather than rent equipment each time the team produced an event; the group decided to develop their own inventory of tables, tents, chairs, chaffers, décor and small ware items. By adding the rental element, the three could offer a better value to their customers. In addition, never lost focus on other "special" events.. Events that would occur only one time or celebrate a special occasion... The 50th Anniversary of the Central Intelligence Agency, Woodstock '99, and even the Papal visit of Pope John Paul II to Texas. Hence, the company name change to "Lundy's Special Events" in the late 80's. Soon Lundy's was called to consult on a variety of projects and was hired to develop the food, beverage and hospitality plan for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta. 100 days prior to opening ceremonies, ACOG called and Lundy's actually operated 7 of the venues!
