March 1, 1981 - Two of Fulco Tire Distributor's employees; Gaylord Carlton and Pat Malone, purchased the Dallas Branch of Fulco Tire of Baytown, Tx with Jerry and Trudy Shultz and Jerry Cyree. The new company was incorporated as Plainsman Tire Co., Inc.


August 1983 Gaylord Carlton and Pat Malone purchased all the other stock holders equity in the company. At that time, Gaylord Carlton is elected as President and Pat Malone is elected as Vice-President.


April -15, 1994 - Gaylord Carlton retired as President. Pat Malone was elected President. Alvis Shavers was elected as Vice-President. Gaylord Carlton was elected Executive Vice-President.?


December 16, 1994 - Plainsman Tire Co., Inc. acquired Direct Wholesale Tire which was formally a Cooper owned wholesale distribution center in Dallas and was relocated to Top Line Dr., Dallas, Texas as part of Plainsman Tire Co., Inc.


March 2009 - Plainsman Tire of Fort Worth, a Plainsman Tire Co., Inc. branch opened and remains open today March, 2013.


February 17, 2013 - Gaylord Carlton passes away and will be missed by all at Plainsman Tire Co., Inc.
