There are several different types of hot in-place asphalt recycling. We feel our system, which closely resembles a "2 inch mill and fill" operation, offers the highest quality of finished roadway.
Our system consists of five basic steps:
1.Preheating of the asphalt surface that is to be recycled
2.Re-heating and milling of approximately 1 inch and placing it in a windrow
3.Re-heating and milling of approximately 1 more inch, picking up the previous windrow and combining it with the windrow produced with the second heating and milling operation. (Additional virgin mix and/or rejuvenate agents may be added during this process.)
4.Picking up the combined windrow and "running it through" a heated twin-shaft pugmill.
5.Placing the recycled asphalt into a lay down machine with automatic grade controls, and thereafter a standard paving operation, i.e. rolling, etc...
We feel the multi step process produces a smoother road and obviously a better blending and heat environment of the mix.
In the past year, we have completed projects in New Mexico on US64, Interstate 25, & NM 518; and in Colorado on US 50, west of Pueblo.
