(OMML) was the first Otsuka research facility established in the U.S. It was originally named Maryland Research Laboratories (MRL). It opened in 1985 and was the first research institute in the Shady Grove Life Sciences Center in Montgomery County, Maryland, near Washington, D.C. The Shady Grove Life Sciences Center is now the third largest center of life sciences and research organizations in the U.S. In 2003, MRL became Otsuka Maryland Medicinal Laboratories, LLC, a subsidiary of Otsuka Maryland Research Institute, Inc. (now Otsuka Pharmaceutical Development & Commercialization, Inc.). In January 2007, it was incorporated as a separate entity -- Otsuka Maryland Medicinal Laboratories, Inc.Otsuka Maryland Medicinal Laboratories, Inc. (OMML) is focused on basic and applied research, conducting innovative basic research to support global clinical studies and engaging in drug discovery in conjunction with Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in Japan. OMML is dedicated to developing innovative healthcare products that address unmet medical needs in various therapeutic areas.
