Since 1994, NADCP has worked tirelessly at the international, national, state and local level to create and enhance Drug Courts; including adult, juvenile, family, reentry and tribal models; DWI Courts, and Veterans Treatment Courts. In 1996, NADCP was the lead organization that developed the landmark and defining publication Defining Drug Courts: The Key Components and is currently leading the development of operational best-practice and accreditation standards for adult Drug Courts.
Today, the award-winning NADCP is the premier national repository, training, and advocacy organization for the Drug Court model, representing over 27,000 multi-disciplinary justice professionals and community leaders. NADCP hosts the largest multi-disciplinary annual training conference on substance abuse and crime in the world, topping 4,300 attendees this year. In addition, NADCP hosts the nation’s only training convention dedicated to efforts to help justice-involved veterans.
As the preeminent source of cutting-edge training and technical assistance to the Drug Court and broader justice field, NADCP, and its professional service branches, the National Drug Court Institute, the National Center for DWI Courts and Justice for Vets, have more experience than any other organization in the world in developing and delivering training and providing technical assistance for multi-disciplinary Drug Court / justice teams. With a roster of over 250 highly trained faculty and well-tested training curricula and technical assistance programs, NADCP can deliver quickly, efficiently and effectively. In all, NADCP and its divisions has trained 252,472 justice professionals in all fifty U.S. states and twenty countries. NADCP’s track record in this regard is unmatched.
In addition, NADCP and its divisions have published sixty-five professional monographs, journal volumes and issue-specific fact sheets offering an extensive library of outstanding publications to the justice field. NADCP is the only organization in the world that has developed a Judicial Bench Book for Drug Court Judges (available in Spanish), a multi-volume Drug Court-specific journal and an extensive monograph series related to law, ethics and clinical practice. In total, over 600,000 publications have been distributed by NADCP through training, mail, and online. NADCP currently maintains a mail and email distribution list of over 31,000 Drug Court and other justice and clinical practitioners worldwide. Internationally, NADCP offers countries, non-governmental organizations, and other international organizations a suite of services dedicated to reducing the burden of drug abuse on society. NADCP has a vast network of judges, prosecutors, researchers, and other justice and clinical professionals with decades of experience on issues related to Drug Courts, crime, justice, and public health. Using this culturally competent and multi-lingual faculty, NADCP has helped establish Drug Courts in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Italy, Ireland, Jamaica, Lithuania, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland, Suriname and the United Kingdom.
