Our company was established in April 1928 as Mathis Welding and Machine Company, Lake City, Florida. The first Fireline Plow was built in 1932, and the sixth plow that was built in June 1933 was donated by St. Regis Paper Co. and Mathis Plow Co. to the Smithsonian Institute in June 1975. In 1965, the Company was incorporated as Mathis Plow Co. The principal products manufactured in the early years were Fireline Plows and related equipment.In October 1979, Mathis Plow Co., Inc purchased Sieco and Rome Fireline Plows from Southern Iron and Equipment Corp. of Atlanta, Georgia. In July 1981, Mathis Plow Co., Inc. moved to Starkville, Mississippi and merged with Forestry Equipment Sales Co. of Louisville, Mississippi to form FESCO, (a division of Mathis Plow Co., Inc. a Florida Corporation licensed to do business in Mississippi under the Trade name FESCO). This move and merger were done to provide a more central location within the primary market area, to broaden product lines and to combine marketing, manufacturing, development activity and experience into one organization to better serve the industry. 'FESCO' and 'Woody Pine' are registered national trade marks obtained in 1985 and 1986.In 1996, Mathis Plow Co., Inc. dba FESCO was incorporated in Mississippi. The equipment manufactured to date includes over 60 different models of forestry preparation, planting and protective equipment. FESCO has equipment operating in 42 states and 6 foreign countries. In July 1986, the company purchased the present facility. FESCO and its loyal employees continue to provide the finest equipment available and to continually work with its customers in meeting their present and future forestry equipment requirements.
