Harmonia was founded in 1999 in Blacksburg, VA. Over the years we have developed the LiquidApps(R) suite of development tools. LiquidApps opens the door to user interface creation to the subject matter expert who is best able to develop the software, instead of relying only on programmers. Additional modules convert legacy code such as Ada to Java.
Harmonia developed the UIML language to allow user interfaces to work on multiple platforms without recoding the application. Harmonia has worked on a number of major software development projects over the years and refined the software and the systems it operates on.
Harmonia is a small, disadvantaged, woman-owned, qualified HUBZone technology company building cutting edge technology solutions to today's problems and providing IT services and management. Harmonia has had successful Phase III transitions of past SBIR projects to both the Government and Private sectors. Its "commercialization index" as computed by the Dept. of Defense is 80 (out of 100), which is an extremely high rating of dollars received in Phase III contracts.
Harmonia has received several recognitions: Tibbett's Awards (2013 & 2007- made to firms judged to exemplify the very best in SBIR achievement and transition), Fast 50 Asian American Companies (2013), featured in Forbes magazine (2013), ranks on the Inc. magazine 5000 list for 4 years in a row (2009 - 2012), one of the 12 to Watch small businesses in Virginia by the Senate Productivity and Quality Award Program (2011), 'Technical Trailblazer' government contractor (2011), Top 100 CEO's (male & female) in Washington DC (2010), Smart100 in Washington DC (2009), and Top 25 female CEO's in Washington DC (2008).
Harmonia's technology portfolio includes tools for:
o Software Lifecycle Acceleration tools for Agile to CMMI Development, Software Modernization, SOA Development, etc.
o Collaboration tools for Rapid Idea Transfer, High Performance Computing, Technology Transfer Apps, etc.
o Compliance tools for IV&V, and Security C&A.
o Intelligence & Decisions tools for Large Data Handling and Automated Battle Management.
o Payment Processing tools.
o Connected vehicle simulation & traffic control tools for Transportation Systems
Harmonia's technologies dramatically impact the way software is developed for complex, sophisticated systems. As an example, Harmonia's game changing cashless payment technology currently being used on the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) and targeted next for the USS Zumwalt (DDG-1000) class destroyer, and is estimated to save the Navy and taxpayers $70M over its lifecycle by conservative estimates.
Harmonia has worked with many Federal agencies such as the SBA, USDA, Air Force, Army, IRS, Navy, NASA, NIH, Missile Defense Agency, Federal Aviation Administration, DARPA, ONR, OSD, and the Departments of Energy and Transportation as well as large prime contractors such as General Dynamics, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, and SAIC.
Harmonia's contracting vehicles include: GSA IT Schedule 70, Navy IDIQ, SeaPort-e, Alliant GSA, DESP II, eFast, and Warfighter FOCUS.
Mrs. Pallabi Saboo is the Chief Executive Officer for Harmonia Holdings Group, LLC. She is an entrepreneur with a unique understanding of technology as well as business and strategic issues.
Dr. Marc Abrams serves as Harmonia's President and CTO. He provides technical and business leadership to the company and manages all its technical projects. In the past, Dr. Abrams has been with the former U.S. Army Concepts Analysis Agency, a post-doc in the Distributed Operating Systems group in Stanford's Computer Science Department, and a Visiting Scientist in the network protocol group at IBM's Zurich Research Laboratory in Switzerland. He has been the Principal Investigator for almost $20M in research and development projects with Army, Air Force, DARPA, DHS, DoE, DoT, IBM, MDA, NASA, NAVAIR, NAVSEA, NSF, ONR, OSD, Raytheon, and SAIC. He received his PhD from the University of Maryland at College Park in Computer Science.
Before Harmonia, Dr. Abrams was a tenured associate professor at Virginia Tech, where his research on Human-Computer Interfaces led to the creation of UIML and later the co-founding of Harmonia. UIML forms the basis for Harmonia's LiquidApps(R) product. At Virginia Tech, he also co-founded the Center for Human Computer Interaction, and worked with HCI faculty in fields ranging from cognitive psychology to human factors on scenario-driven HCI design.
