Great Plains began business in the Anadarko Basin of Oklahoma in 1987. In the early years Great Plains core focus area was the Anadarko basin of Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle. During that time a core group of dedicated personnel began to build relationships, quality equipment, and a broad level of experience in various different plays across Oklahoma and Texas. Great Plains was able to survive the depressed years of the mid 80's to the late 90's. In the late 90's the oil & gas industry started coming to life after being fairly stagnant for 15 years. The growing drilling activity was increasing the need for quality geological evaluation. Great Plains recognized this and began to add quality individuals to its workforce, build new equipment and logging trailers in 1999. This growth has been slow and steady making sure not to sacrifice quality and dependability for volume. Today Great Plains has become a national mud logging company providing mud logging, well-site geology, re-mote logging services and geo-steering services. Great Plains is now providing these services in the Marcellus Shale of Pennsylvania, the Fayetteville Shale of Arkansas, the Barnett Shale of north Texas, the Woodford Shale of Oklahoma, the Eagle Ford Shale of south Texas, and the Utica Shale of Utica in Ohio. Here at home in Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle we continue to be one of the most active mud logging companies providing formation evaluation on the new emerging horizontal plays, such as the Tonkawa, Cleveland, Marmaton and Granite Wash. Great Plains has presently grown to 55 fully equipped mud logging trailers with approximately 90 employees nationwide. Great Plains main office is still located in Weatherford, Oklahoma, with field offices in Poteet, Texas, and Towanda Pennsylvania. Great Plains is committed to growing its presence as a nationwide geological service company, capable of providing service in any area of the United States as new plays emerge.
