Eustis Engineering is one of the oldest geotechnical firms in the southeastern United States. From a two-man office in 1946 to approximately 130 individuals in 2014, the firm has grown to house accounting, administrative, drilling, engineering, laboratory, and construction materials testing departments. These departments work together to provide our clients with the quality work desired in a cost efficient and timely manner.
Eustis Engineering is headquartered in Metairie, Louisiana with branch offices in Lafayette and Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Gulfport, Mississippi. Our services encompass many disciplines including the performance of geotechnical engineering design, dynamic pile testing and non-destructive testing of piles/shafts, field exploration (drilling of soil borings and cone penetration tests), soil mechanics laboratory tests, field instrumentation and monitoring, and construction materials testing services.
Eustis Engineering possesses licenses to perform geotechnical drilling in Louisiana and Mississippi. With our licenses, Eustis Engineering drills soil borings and performs sampling operations for our clients’ projects in all types of environments including land, marsh, swamp, and marine. We can provide up to eight drillers and drill rigs capable of obtaining standard 3-in. diameter Shelby tube samples and 5-in. diameter fixed piston samples. We supplement our drilling equipment with CPT equipment and vane shear testing equipment.
Our laboratory is accredited by four agencies including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the AMRL and CCRL Groups of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, and Louisiana Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program. We operate state-of-the-art testing equipment. We use a gINT database to manage and report boring data. We also use the Rapid CPT add-on for gINT to present our CPT records. The gINT integration software improves data management and makes the process from data acquisition to presentation of logs, soil profiles, and fence diagrams more efficient.
Eustis Engineering has worked on more than 20,000 projects since its inception. This work history gives our engineering staff unparalleled familiarity with the foundation conditions of Southern Louisiana and Mississippi. Eustis’s engineering staff is comprised of over 20 professional engineers, engineering interns, engineering assistants, and engineering technicians. Our engineering staff has extensive experience in a wide range of projects including, but not limited to, office buildings, sports complexes, industrial facilities, docks, roads and bridges, drainage structures, levees, and others. These projects include specific engineering analyses such as vertical and lateral pile and drilled shaft capacity, slope stability analyses, evaluation of retaining walls, sheetpile wall analyses, pavement design, and settlement analyses.
Schedule and efficient service are paramount to Eustis Engineering. Geotechnical services are likely the first design phase in a project. As such, timely completion of those services are nearly always a client need. Upon notice to proceed, we assign a project manager that assembles an in-house team to arrange field contacts, obtain permits, clear underground utilities, and, most importantly, develop an early-on understanding of the project schedule. As the project proceeds to the design phase, this communication is continued to help ensure a timely issuance of a report that adequately addresses the project requirements.i just
