Dynamo Micropower is developing a 10kW class gas generator (genset) that can be rapidly deployed in wide ranging applications. Our initial product, the Dynamo Turbocore 7.5 leverages state of the art gas turbine technology in a highly portable package, while being cost competitive with reciprocating gensets on the market today. The Turbocore can run on all manner of fuels from vodka through JP-8, as well as natural gas and propane, and its oil-less bearing system means minimal maintenance requirements during times of need. Furthermore, units can be stored for years and can be brought online at a moment's notice. With only two moving parts, Dynamo's ultra-microturbine requires only annual maintenance and provides a significantly longer operating life over reciprocating solutions. By approaching microturbine design with a perspective focused on market price and functional needs, we are developing a simplified architecture that enables further miniaturization and mass scale manufacturing of microturbines.
Dynamo Micropower was founded by start-up veterans with over 6 years of collaboration between them. We have both worked on large gas turbines as well as silicon based microturbines. Our CEO, Jason Ethier has previously worked in turbine supply chain management for GE-Aviation and also raised $2.5 Million for the TJ3Sat program. Jason was recently included in Forbes' top 30 Under 30 list of disruptors for energy.
Dynamo has established an extensive list of business and technical advisors, all with experience in the cleantech, venture backed, startup space. Most recently, we added the former CTO of Beacon Power, who has over 35 years of experience deploying energy products containing high speed rotating parts.
Recently we were Gold prize winners at Mass Challenge, and have received numerous other grants and awards from the following competitions and events: including: The Kauffman Foundation backed Startup Open, Best Pitch at the New Energy Symposium, the DOE backed U-Launch Prize, the Cleantech Open, CTSI Utility Technology Challenge, Duke Startup Challenge, Charlotte Venture Challenge, Rice BPC, MIT Clean Energy Prize, and the ACC Clean Energy Challenge.
