Long time colleagues Ross Edwards, Eric Horn, Bob Hopper, Scott Brauninger, and Dave Williams came together in 2007 to form Build Group. Shortly thereafter, Nathan Rundel and Jason Berry joined the team. Combined, the group has more than 193 years of construction experience and each playing integral roles in some of the most prominent and complex buildings constructed in California. The team formed Build Group with a goal of working closely with clients and driving innovation within the industry. They created a flat company structure that minimizes middle management, allowing the Principals to remain close to the work and entrusting employees to own their work. Their willingness to roll up their sleeves and personally do the work has cultivated a construction company full of true revolutionary builders.
BEGINNING IN A DOWN ECONOMY
Starting Build Group in the down economy of 2007 was a risky endeavor. However the Principals' ability to be lean and keep business operation expenses minimal helped overcome the financial slump. Their willingness to take on a job of any size in the early years kept the business afloat. The first few projects were small: Mint Plaza, a public space remodel, and two Cable Car Kiosk ticketing stations, all in San Francisco. The challenging financial times at the beginning taught the Principals how to be frugal, innovative and creative. These three qualities continue to define the company today, setting us apart from the competition.
BUILD GROUP RETAIL, HOSPITALITY AND FINE INTERIORS DIVISION
In the beginning of 2010, Build Group acquired Fine Line Group which form the Build Group Retail, Hospitality and Fine Interiors division. Fine Line Group was a 30-year-old company with a rich history in high-end retail and seismic upgrades. The group built a reputation for evolving creative building methodologies and project delivery strategies that fast-track schedules, while often keeping spaces operational, and meeting both the client's design and business goals. The acquisition brought personnel with high-end restaurant, hotel and flagship retail expertise to the Retail, Hospitality, and Fine Interiors division. Today, the division is led by John Santori and Scott Brauninger who collaborate to bring Build Group's interior services to any major metropolitan area in the nation.
BUILD GROUP TODAY
Build Group has quickly grown since inception to become a leading force in the Bay Area construction industry through smart planning and diversification of market sectors. Backed by awesome clients and employees, Build Group will continue to seize the right opportunities to BUILD a sustainable future for growth and the betterment of the built environment.
